Susie Hosterman, the Advocate

Susie Hosterman works closely with local and national eating disorder centers and organizations to raise awareness, educate the public, and help others navigate their own eating disorder recovery journey. Having experienced recovery herself, from a decade long journey, Susie now shares videos full of tips, tricks, and her other creative projects to assist and inspire others on their own journey. Once afraid to be seen– even starving herself to go unnoticed– Susie now embraces sharing her unique story, openly and honestly, in hopes of giving others the courage to speak out and end their own eating disorders. (Let’s be brave together!)

Locally, Susie has collaborated and shared her story with White Pine’s Center for Healing located in Erie, PA and has been a Collaborator for National Eating Disorder Association during their Eating Disorder Awareness Week activities. In 2018, Susie had an art exhibition at Tipsy Bean Cafe in Erie, PA which included interactive art therapy focused activities for the public to explore. She also sold her artwork and had another interactive art therapy based project at the 2019 Discover Your Energetic Health event at the Woman’s Club of Erie.

Currently, she is pursuing further education to become an Art Therapy Practitioner to add depth to her own artistic practice and expand her knowledge in expressive arts power on healing the mind, body and soul. She received her Certified Reiki Master Teacher in the Usui Sytem of Reiki Healing in 2020 and combines this education with her eating disorder advocacy work.
